Several cottages and motel rooms are designated for dog owners to bring their well-behaved canines and some are designated as “dog free” for those guests with allergies. A pet fee of $20/dog per day will be added to your room charges. We ask that a maxium of 2 dogs per unit with a total weight of 75 lbs (one big dog or two medium/smaller dogs).
Please download and review our Pet Agreement. We require this document be signed either in advance or upon arrival at Bay Leaf Cottages. If you have any questions about our policies or which cottages/motel rooms are most suitable for travel with your pet, please don't hesitate to call us: 207-505-0458. As you can see, our dog Ginger is eager to make some new friends this year!
Dogs may not be left unattended in cottages or motel rooms at any time. If you are planning to attend an event (wedding, special dinner, sailing trip, etc.), please arrange for Doggie Day Care or kennel time with the nearby Canine Inn at Dr. Blake Veterinary Clinic 207-789-570 (www.blakevet.com). Owners who leave pets unattended will be charged a $50 additional fee. Remember that unattended and/or barking dogs not only disturb our other guests and neighbors but they cause us additional work effort to locate owners and resolve the issues. For the safety of all guests, aggressive breeds are not permitted (e.g. Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Doberman Pincher, and Chow).
We care about our clients and their beloved dogs. As such, please make sure your dog's vaccinations are up to date prior to your stay with us. Please travel with a copy of your pet's vaccination records or tags showing current rabies vaccination status. And, in consideration of our future guests and the well-being of your dog, please be sure your pet has been regularly treated for fleas/ticks using Frontline Plus or a similar product. We reserve the right to refuse pets that are not well-maintained by their owners (clean/groomed, current vaccinations, good health, free of pests).
When you arrive, please review the map of our property showing where to walk your pet. We have grassy areas for walking and play, nice walking roads to the bay across the street, and wooded areas on our property. Remember that in Maine we have a range of wildlife in our wooded areas (deer, moose, wild turkey, racoons, etc). As such, please check yourself and your pet for ticks before you return to the cottages/motel after walking in any high brush or wooded areas. For travelers with extended stays, please consider giving your pet the Lyme Disease preventative vaccination.
We provide a welcome bag for your dog with a water bowl, mat and blanket for use during your stay with us. There are also treats, poopy bags, and handouts about things to see/do in the area with your pet. We will collect blankets/bowls to clean when you check out. Missing items will be charged against your bill.
Please no reptiles, rodents, birds or felines.
